The Indian government introduces the excellent SWAYAM Plus platform.

The SWAYAM Plus platform will provide programmes in the following fields: management studies, leisure, tourism, computer science and engineering, manufacturing, energy, IT or ITES, and healthcare.

On February 27, Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, introduced the “SWAYAM Plus” portal, which will include courses created in partnership with industry. These curricula, which emphasise employability and professional growth, were created in collaboration with major industry giants including Microsoft, Cisco, and L&T.

The “SWAYAM Plus” Platform will be run by IIT Madras, the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Among the founding universities of Swayam-NPTEL and the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform was IIT Madras. MOOC and Swayam-NPTEL offer learners educational options. According to an IIT Madras release, SWAYAM has the highest enrolment base currently, with total enrollment expected to grow from 31 lakh in 2017 to more than 72 lakh by the end of 2023.

The purpose of SWAYAM Plus is to improve the employability of individuals who are lifelong learners as well as college students. The industry-academia relationship would bring together the real-world experience and relevance provided by industry partners with the academic rigour of SWAYAM’s educational platform.

According to the institute, students who take these courses will not only gain theoretical knowledge but also the skills, practices, and most recent trends that employers are looking for. These courses will also close the knowledge gap between academia and industry, increasing the employability and competitiveness of college graduates.

Among the capabilities of the SWAYAM Plus platform include credit recognition, multilingual content, and an AI-enabled chatbot to help students.
