Pawan Kumar, the son of a poor farmer, succeeds in his UPSC dream and ranks 239

With an AIR 239 score in the civil services test, Pawan Kumar has realised his UPSC dream.

Now that Pawan Kumar has so many well-wishers, his house is humming. A little courtyard can be found behind a tricolour that is affixed to the facade via a tight passage. Twelve animals are tethered beneath the thatched cowshed in an attempt to ward off the summer heat. The audience that has assembled to meet the soon-to-be IAS official doesn’t need much space, but what’s there is sufficient.
Mr. Kumar, who resides in an unremarkable village in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, has achieved his goal of passing the UPSC exam and placing AIR 239 overall.

“From an early age, he aspired to become an IAS (officer). It was something I would frequently ask him to do. He did, however, once tell me not to bother him. Other than academics, he has no hobbies “his father claimed.

Together with a thatched kutcha, the family owns four bighas of agricultural land. To make ends meet, his father works as a worker and tilts. Pawan Kumar was troubled by this intense poverty. He realised that the only way to end his family’s poverty was through education. He only studied when he was at home, according to his sister Goldie.
