Sridhar Vembu, the chief executive officer of Zoho, responded to the most recent FIITJEE commercial that received harsh criticism for its unethical methods. The image of a student in the print advertisement suggested that performance would decline after leaving the institute. It went so far as to incite fear by linking a rival to student suicides and employing derogatory terms like “evil.” Reposting the advertisement, Mr. Vembu asserted that the nation must free itself from the “ultra-competitive exam pressure” that is placed on youth and young adults. “Pledged to not even consider academic credentials” is what his company does, he continued.
The Zoho Chief attacked the culture of competitive exams, claiming that early pressure “destroys talent and creates zombified adults.” “It’s the rat race to extinction,” he continued. Serious rivalry is reserved for sports teams and businesses catering to certain markets, not for students in school.”
“As an employer, we have committed to not even taking academic credentials into consideration,” he went on. Additionally, we are funding Finnish-inspired alternatives to schooling.”
